Massey University Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa (Massey) has successfully upgraded to ResearchMaster Enterprise Version 7.5.1 (RME 7.5.1)
The upgrade from RME5 to RME7 is a significant change and represents a major improvement to the university’s research management administration. Alongside user interface improvements, the upgrade now allows the research community at Massey University to make greater use of the e-Forms functionality across their research lifecycle, from contracts and projects, through to animal management and ethics.
The upgraded system enables individual researchers to keep track of their research project milestones, reports and budgets with much greater ease than had been previously available. For university administrators, business managers and heads of academic units, the new reporting functionality makes it easier to produce timely research management reports, reduces the requests for research data from other departments and offices and enhances the data available for planning purposes.
The Massey project team, which included staff from the University’s information technology services, research operations and ethics team, worked closely with the ResearchMaster support team to identify issues and develop solutions prior to go-live. Manager of Massey’s Research Systems and Reporting, Sharon Crowley says, “The go-live went much more smoothly than we had anticipated, and we have really appreciated the attention provided by ResearchMaster through this final stage. Being able to streamline some of our complex processes, like ethics applications, has been a real bonus.”
Project sponsor and Chair of the Project Board that oversaw the project on behalf of the wider university, Provost Professor Giselle Byrnes, commented: “While this project has been challenging, I am now receiving positive feedback from our research user community regarding the new user system interface, the key functionality improvements, and the opportunities that the e-Forms now provide to capture more significant research data to inform our processes.”
Professor Byrnes added that: “Working in a high-trust manner, and especially through the latter stages of this project where we have been a priority client for ResearchMaster, we have learnt from each other. We now intend to maintain the strong relationships we have formed with familiar and experienced faces as we move into future upgrades; these will be much easier now that we have achieved the major upgrade to RME7.”
