ResearchMaster Inaugural HDR Forum
ResearchMaster recently hosted an inaugural HDR Forum online, enabling its community of users to share their knowledge and experience and hear from the solution provider and guest speakers across four different sessions.
Guest speaker Associate Professor Inger Mewburn, founder of The Thesis Whisperer blog and HDR thought leader, presented her views and insights on the challenges PhD students are facing based on the current research by her team.
Pauline Opie HDR Product Advisor said “The academic job market has long been competitive, it was interesting to gain insight as to how it has become increasingly complex, as students navigate progression and completion of their PhD during COVID-19”.
Case studies presented by multiple universities highlighted the need to be adaptable and flexible, to have transparent processes and to continually refine them in order to improve efficiencies and increase automation. These key qualities will be essential across all graduate research offices to meet the needs of students, supervisors and other stakeholders during this time.
Dr Narelle Tunstall, Managing Editor for the ACGR Graduate Research Impact Blog, facilitated the final session of the day – Future of the Graduate Research Office. Dr Tunstall invited an open discussion with resulting topics including increased intermissions and extensions and anticipated long-term impacts of COVID19.
ResearchMaster will hold further forums to share the views and experience of the Graduate Office and gain valuable user insight. For more information please contact us
